- Your Right to Financial Privacy
You have the right to know the privacy policies and practices of the
Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union in regard to the sharing of
information, which either concerns or pertains to you, with both
affiliates of the Credit Union and any non-affiliated third parties. This
notice describes the privacy policies and practices of the Credit Union.
DEFINITIONS
We will use certain terms in this notice which we define as the
following:
WE, OUR, CREDIT UNION
This will mean the Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union.
YOU, MEMBER, YOUR(S)
This will mean our Member with whom we have a continuing relationship
through one or more accounts as well as any non-member, without an actual
account relationship who may use a service that we provide (such as an
ATM).
PUBLICLY AVAILABLE INFORMATION
This is any Member information that we have a "reasonable
basis" to believe as true and which is available to the general
public from either official public records (such as real estate records),
or widely distributed media (such as television, telephone books,
newspapers or radio), or is disclosed to the general public as a
requirement of federal, state or local laws (such as security filings).
NONPUBLIC PERSONAL INFORMATION
This is personally identifiable Member financial information (such as
information that you supply us to obtain a financial product or service;
or any specific transaction of yours which involves any financial product
or service that we provide; or that we otherwise obtain about you in
connection with providing you with any specific product or service that we
offer) which is not available through public sources, and includes any
listing, description, or other grouping of consumers, that may be derived
from the use of any personally identifiable financial information.
AFFILIATE
This is any company that controls, is controlled by, or is under
common control with another company (such as our affiliate Flight Plan
Financial Services.) Note: We may share your nonpublic personal
information with Flight Plan Financial Services, but only in a way that is
permitted by law.
NONAFFILIATED THIRD PARTY
Any person or corporate entity that is not an affiliate or a joint
employee of the Credit Union, and a third party.
CONSUMER REPORTING AGENCY
A person or business who collects and evaluates consumer credit
information for the purpose of providing consumer reports to third
parties.
PRIVACY NOTICE
CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT
We collect nonpublic personal information about you from the following
sources:
- Information we receive from you on applications and other forms that
you submit to us;
- Information about your transactions with us, our affiliates or
others;
- Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies.
CATEGORIES OF INFORMATION WE MAY DISCLOSE ABOUT YOU
We do not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our Members,
former Members, or non-members who may use our services, unless it is
permitted by law.
IF OUR RELATIONSHIP ENDS
If you decide to terminate your membership in the Credit Union, by
closing your accounts or you become a non-member / non user of our
services, we will adhere to all of the privacy policies and practices that
are described within this notice.
CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY
We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards which are
in compliance with federal standards to guard your nonpublic information.
We also restrict access to your nonpublic information to the
"employees who need to know it" in order to provide products or
services to you.
PROTECTING YOUR OWN INFORMATION
The Northrop Grumman Federal Credit Union does not sell any of your
personal information to outside firms for marketing purposes. However,
there are outside agencies and companies, including credit reporting
agencies, who will. Your personal information, which meets certain
criteria, could be included on lists and sold to marketing companies who
are members of the Direct Marketing Association. If you do not want any of
your information shared with these companies and want to cut down on
"junk mail" and annoying "dinner time phone calls," we
recommend the following:
To inform the National Consumer Reporting Agencies (Credit
Bureaus) that you do not want personal information shared for marketing
purposes, call their toll free number 1-800-353-0809.
To erase your name from direct mailing and/or telemarketing lists
you must write to the Direct Marketing Association at both
of the following addresses and ask that your name be deleted from any
lists that they sell.

Identity theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world.
Thieves steal your personal information and use it to commit fraud or
theft, such as opening new checking or credit card accounts in your name.
You can minimize your risk of becoming a victim by controlling the amount
of personal information that you release; by knowing who you are releasing
the information to; and by verifying why they want or need it and what it
will be used for.
If you become a victim
you should report it to all of the
following: the creditors of any accounts that were tampered with or
opened; the fraud department of all three major credit reporting agencies;
your local police or the police of the community where the theft took
place; and the Federal Trade Commission at their toll free number
1-877-438-4338.
