Following are required browser configurations for using the_Max!. Wording may vary slightly between PC and Macintosh* platforms. Note that if the settings are not implemented as suggested below and you are using the_Max! in a public setting such as an intranet, someone looking over your shoulder could see sensitive information that would allow unauthorized access to your account

Netscape Navigator* 4.x
Netscape Navigator 3.x
Microsoft* Internet Explorer 4.x
Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02


Netscape Navigator 4.x:

The following configuration is mandatory in order for the_Max! to function correctly on your PC or Macintosh. Note that if this configuration is not implemented, the security of your account could be compromised.

1. From the top menu select Edit » Preferences: Click on Appearance from the left hand menu, then click on Fonts


From Use the Variable Width Font: click on the arrow to choose the font
  • From Font: select Times New Roman
  • From Size: select 12
From Use the Fixed Font: click on the arrow to choose the font
  • From Font: select Courier New
  • From Size: select 10
2. Click on Advanced from menu on the left
  • Select Enable JavaScript*
  • Select Accept all cookies
  • OR Select Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server
  • Click on: OK
3. From the top menu select Communicator » Tools » Security information: Click on Navigator from the menu on the left

Advanced Security (SSL) Configuration
  • From SSL: select Enable SSL v2
  • From SSL: select Enable SSL v3
  • Click on: OK

The following configuration is mandatory in order for the_Max! to function correctly on your PC or Macintosh. Note that if this configuration is not implemented, the security of your account could be compromised.

1. From the top menu select Options » General Preferences: Click on the Fonts tab

From Use the Proportional Font: click on Choose Font...
  • From Font: select Times New Roman
  • From Size: select 12
  • Click on: OK
From Use the Fixed Font: click on Choose Font...
  • From Font: select Courier New
  • From Size: select 10
  • Click on: OK
  • Click on: OK
2. From the top menu select Options » Network Preferences: Click on the Languages tab
  • Select Enable JavaScript
  • Click on: OK
3. From the top menu select Options » Security Preferences: Click on the General tab
  • From SSL: select Enable SSL v2
  • From SSL: select Enable SSL v3
  • Click on: OK


Internet Explorer 4.x:

The following configuration is mandatory in order for the_Max! to function correctly on your PC or Macintosh. Note that if this configuration is not implemented, the security of your account could be compromised.

1. From the top menu select View » Options: Click on the General tab and then the Fonts button on the bottom.

Proportional Font:
  • From Font: select Times New Roman

Fixed Font:

  • From Font: select Courier New
  • From Size: select medium
  • Click on: OK
2. Click on the Advanced tab: Scroll down to the Security section
  • Check SSL 2.0
  • Check SSL 3.0
3. Scroll down to cookies
  • Click on Always Accept Cookies
  • Click on: OK


Internet Explorer 3.02:

The following configuration is mandatory in order for the_Max! to function correctly on your PC or Macintosh. Note that if this configuration is not implemented, the security of your account could be compromised.

1. From the top menu select View » Options: Click on the General tab and then the Font Settings button on the bottom right.

Proportional Font:
  • From Font: select Times New Roman

Fixed-Width Font:

  • From Font: select Courier New
  • Click on: OK
2. Click on the Security tab
  • Check Allow downloading of active content
3. Click on the Advanced tab and then the Cryptography Settings button on the bottom right.

Advanced Security (SSL) Configuration

  • Check Allow SSL 2 (Secure) connections
  • Check Allow SSL 3 (Secure) connections
  • Click on: OK
  • Click on: OK
